"We have exciting work ahead, full of new conversations about how to make our country, our communities, our workplaces and our lives better. And we want you to continue to be part of it!" - James Clancy, NUPGE National President.
Ottawa (06 Aug. 2013) — In June, almost 400 members of our union, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), gathered together in Ottawa to chart our course for the next three years and strategize about important public policy issues that are on the minds of our members, and Canadians, across the country.
Whether or not you were in Ottawa, we know you have been working on many of the same issues, helping to build a movement of people who care about equality, democracy and the common good.
That's why over the next few months, we will be sharing by email and on our website some of the information, research and videos from our Convention and letting you know about more ways to get involved in our campaigns.
You will see how we are continuing our All Together Now! campaign against income inequality with a new focus on labour rights, allowing us to explore the challenges ahead. You will see how we will continue building, with others, a movement that is in favour of:
- resisting the wave of privatization and outsourcing of public services
- creating a society with good jobs instead of one ruled by a low-wage, temporary job strategy and
- continuing our fight for tax fairness to ensure the top 1% income earners and big corporations pay their fair share.
We have exciting work ahead, full of new conversations about how to make our country, our communities, our workplaces and our lives better.
And we want you to continue to be part of it!
So, keep checking this site to see our updates and share what you find with your friends, family and coworkers.
Let's keep the conversations going!
