'This agreement contains increases that will help our members' jobs remain competitive.' - Darryl Walker.

Vancouver (17 July 2009) - Employees represented by the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) at the B.C. Safety Authority have voted 75% in favour of ratifying a new collective agreement that provides an 11.5% wage increase over three years.

"This agreement contains increases that will help our members' jobs remain competitive with the private sector," says BCGEU president Darryl Walker.

"In addition to annual wage hikes, our members have negotiated a new job evaluation plan, a market adjustment increase for safety officers and improved benefits."

The B.C. Safety Authority provides safety services throughout the province.
