Education and Training Workers to meet in Ottawa

Workers at colleges and institutes, including instructors and support staff, will meet for a two-day meeting in Ottawa.

Ottawa (22 Feb. 2012) - The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) will hold an Education and Training working group meeting Feb. 23-24 to discuss issues of concern to post-secondary instructors and support staff from across Canada.

The meeting will allow workers to share issues of common concerns that threaten the health and sustainability of the sector. Among the agenda items are collective bargaining, apprenticeship programs and online learning.

Some time will be spent reviewing the progress of the All Together Now! campaign. Participants will be provided with tools to get involved and take the issue of tax fairness and quality public services back to their communities.

Included on the agenda is the upcoming renegotiation of the Canada Social Transfer (CST) in 2014.
