Hands off our pensions: Join the debate, January 21

Alberta members, stay by your phone tonight for the Pension Telephone Town Hall or head down to the live audience.

Edmonton (21 Jan. 2014) – On January 21, at 7 p.m., the Labour Coalition on Pensions will be holding a Telephone Town Hall to discuss proposed changes to Alberta's public-sector pensions.

Pension expert Brendan George and provincial labour leaders on hand to discuss current attack on pensions

The Telephone Town Hall will feature pensions expert Brendan George in conversation with Alberta Federation of Labour President Gil McGowan, Health Sciences Association of Alberta President Elisabeth Ballermann, United Nurses of Alberta President Heather Smith and Canidian Union of Public Employees (Alberta) President Marle Roberts. The event will be hosted by CBC radio personality Jana O'Connor.

Members of our union will receive a phone call between 7 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. on January 21. If you answer the call, the system will connect you to the Telephone Town Hall, where we invite you to ask questions of our panel and to participate in interactive questionnaires. The event is scheduled to end at about 8 p.m.

If you do not receive a phone call, or are not home when we call, you can participate in the Telephone Town Hall by calling 1-877-229-8493. You will be asked for a pin number, which is 112276.

Those interested in participating live and in person are welcome to join us at the CN Conference Theatre at Grant MacEwan University, where the 140 seats will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
