MGEU corrections members voting on final offer

'It’s been a particularly long and difficult round of negotiations.'

Winnipeg (1 Feb. 2011) - The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) has received a final offer from the province for its corrections component and is asking its members to vote on the proposal.

The union says the package contains "a few minor improvements in a number of areas" but it is not recommending acceptance or rejection. Rather, it is submitting it to members for a vote with a "neutral" recommendation.

"It’s been a particularly long and difficult round of negotiations for the corrections component sub-agreement," MGEU notes.

Full details are now in the hands of members across the province or en route by mail. Ballots must be returned no later than 4 p.m. on March 1.
