NAPE reaches tentative agreements for 11 units

Union recommends acceptance when ratification votes are held in January.

St. John's (24 Dec. 2008) - The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) has reached tentative agreements with the province for 11 public sector bargaining units.

"The process has been lengthy but we believe that our perseverance has paid off," says NAPE president Carol Furlong.

The union is recommending acceptance when ratification votes take place in January. Once ratified, each collective agreement will be signed within seven days to expedite retroactive payments.

Details of the agreements will not be released until members have an opportunity to review and vote on their respective agreements.

The tentative proposals apply to the following classifications: air services, College of North Atlantic support staff, general service, health professionals, hospital support staff, laboratory and x-ray, maintenance and operational services, marine services, the Newfoundland Liquor Corp., school boards and student assistants.
