NBUPPE holds first ever telephone town hall on the All Together Now! campaign

1,500 members participate in union's first telephone town hall.

All Together Now!Fredericton (28 July 2011) - On July 21, the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (NBUPPE/NUPGE) held its first ever telephone town hall to discuss the All Together Now! campaign with members from every region of the province.

Members heard presentations from NBUPPE President Susie Proulx-Daigle and Executive Director Tom Mann on the campaign to promote tax fairness and quality public services. With the telephone technology, members were able to register questions as they listened to be answered at the end of the call.

In total, over 30 questions from the audience were fielded over the phone lines in the hour-long town halls.

Telephone town halls allow for members to participate in meetings and discussions without leaving the comfort of their own home. For the All Together Now! town hall, with one call in english and one call in french, over 1,500 members were engaged for at least the first 15 minutes. Approximately 700 stayed on the phone until the very end.

Members who were unable to participate in the call are able to contact the union to request an audio file or copy of the presentation.
