NBUPPE praises role played by brewery workers

'Most people know well the story of the Oland family.... Not quite as well known, but just as proud, is the story of the generations of workers.'

Fredericton (7 Aug. 2009) - The New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (NBUPPE/NUPGE) says members it represents in the brewing industry at Saint John have done something special.

NBUPPE is congratulating employees of Moosehead Breweries Ltd. for their role in producing a new product called Moosehead Light Lime. Owned by the Oland family, the company is the oldest independent brewer in Canada.

"Recently the media covered the success of Moosehead’s new product Moosehead Light Lime as the best new product launch in 25 years," the union says.

"We want to acknowledge the work done by Local 362, the Moosehead brewery workers, in their role on making this happen. Well done! Most people know well the story of the Oland family and the proud history of Moosehead. Not quite as well known, but just as proud, is the story of the generations of workers who make Moosehead beer," the union adds.

"This is a family company on many levels. Congratulations to everyone at Moosehead.  We just wanted to acknowledge this moment of success for Local 362 and the Moosehead family."
