NSGEU reaches tentative deal with school board

Employees with Tri-County Regional School Board to hold ratification vote on Dec. 8.

Halifax (25 Nov. 2010) - The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) has negotiated a tentative agreement on behalf of employees it represents with the Tri-County Regional School Board (TCRSB).

The board supervises schools in three counties in the southwestern portion of Nova Scotia – Digby, Yarmouth and Shelburne. A ratification vote is scheduled for Dec. 8 and the bargaining committee is recommending acceptance.

The proposed three-year agreement contains increases of 2.9% retroactive to April 1, 2009, 1% retroactive to April 1, 2010 and 1% on April 1, 2011. Other gains include improvements in benefits and vacation.

A ratification document outlining all the proposed changes to the current collective agreement is being mailed to all members of the local.
