OPSEU community living workers in Huntsville to vote on new contract

OPSEU members at Community Living Huntsville will vote on new tentative agreement in January.

Toronto (4 Jan. 2012) - Members of the Ontario Public Services Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) employed by Community Living Huntsville (CLH) reached a tentative agreement after coming very close to its proposed strike deadline. The settlement narrowly avoided a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. on December 22.

"Workers at Community Living Huntsville were pushed right up to their strike deadline in negotiations with this employer," said OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "Thanks to all of the community members who showed solidarity during this process. Investing in workers means investing in the community."

"Our team recommends that the members vote in favour of this agreement," said Trudi Belrose, bargaining team chairperson.

A ratification vote is scheduled for early in the new year.
