OPSEU ratification vote set for Jan. 27-29

Local union presidents meeting Jan. 17 in Toronto.

Toronto (13 Jan. 2009) - Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) will vote Jan. 27-29 on ratification of a proposed new four-year contract reached Dec. 24 with the province.

Planning for the vote began Jan. 5 with preparation of detailed communications materials to provide "accurate and comprehensive information" for distribution to all members across the province.

Details of the agreement have been posted on the OPSEU web site.

This will be followed on Jan. 17 by a meeting of all Ontario Public Service (OPS) local union presidents in Toronto for a detailed briefing from bargaining team members.

"Immediately following the presidents’ meeting, your bargaining team will travel to information meetings across the province to share the results of bargaining with you first hand as well as answering your questions," says Eric Morin, chief of the OPS central unified bargaining team.

"All of this is to prepare you for the ratification vote that is scheduled for January 27, 28 and 29." NUPGE
