PSAC federal public workers stage national day of action against cuts

Join thousands of workers across the country standing together fighting for public services.

Ottawa (01 March 2012) - The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is staging noon-time protests across the country on Thurs., March 1 over proposed cuts to federal public services.

The Conservative austerity plan will have a devastating impact on families and communities across Canada. These cuts will hurt, not help, our economy. They could lead to the loss of up to 100,000 public and private sector jobs. It’s absurd to force Canadians to choose between a strong economy and strong public services. Our country needs both!

That’s why thousands of workers across the country will be standing together to demand better. Tomorrow, workers will be standing together to defend the public services for all Canadians to depend on them.

Canadians value their quality public services and the support for them has been obvious as thousands have joined with the National Union of Public and General Employees Union (NUPGE) All Together Now! campaign to promote and defend services and public jobs.

Join with PSAC members outside federal offices tomorrow to send a loud message to the Conservative government that workers and the public will not give up these hard won services without a fight.
