SGEU Academic members and SIAST sign memorandum of agreement

“Getting closer to a collective agreement for our members means we can continue to provide the quality education our young people deserve,” said Jim Steele, chair of the negotiation committee.

Regina (5 Dec. 2011) - Members of the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union (SGEU/NUPGE) employed by Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) Academic signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that puts the parties one step closer to a collective agreement.

“I’m pleased we have signed this MOA,” said Jim Steele, chair of SGEU’s SIAST academic negotiating committee.

Once the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is ratified, the parties will start to discuss implementation matters of the market adjustments and the Western Canadian Average plus matters on the personal flexible spending account.

“Getting closer to a collective agreement for our members means we can continue to provide the quality education our young people deserve,” said Steele. “We need skilled workers to maintain Saskatchewan’s economic growth and our students deserve an opportunity to participate in the growing economy.”
