SGEU members help make diversity conference a success

Labour activists came together for a one-day conference highlighting diversity issues in the workplace. 

 Regina (24 Feb. 2014) — On February 15, The Regina and District Labour Council  held their Diversity Recognized Equity Conference at the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union (SGEU/NUPGE) Hall in Regina. The conference was well-attended by members of SGEU/NUPGE, UNIFOR and SEIU-West.

Guest speakers included environmental ctivist, Susan Deranger; First Nations Women researcher, Wendy Whitebear; community activist, Reverend Flor Linantud and disabilities spokesperson, Mike Richter.

The purpose of the conference was to develop awareness and understanding of equity and social justice issues affecting marginalized groups in the workplace.

Attendees also enjoyed a rhythmic drumming and dancing performance from guest entertainers, Tribal Vibes.
