SIAST employees appeal to public for support

Province-wide information picket held to draw attention to concession demands by employer.

Regina (5 Oct. 2010) - Employees of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) are seeking public support in an effort to fight concessions demanded by the institute on behalf of the Saskatchewan government.

The employees are members of the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees' Union (SGEU/NUPGE). They have staged province-wide information pickets in recent weeks in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina and Prince Albert.

"The picket lines give members the opportunity to publicly express frustration with concessions the employer is demanding at the bargaining table," SGEU says.
