Staff of college student association join OPSEU

“Our goal is to represent all front-line workers in the college community, and we are well on our way.” — Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU President

Toronto (14 Dec. 2015) — In a vote held November 19, full-time employees of the Student Association of George Brown College voted unanimously to join the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE).

Organizing continues on college campuses

Staff of the association serve 75,000 students at George Brown. They deliver services to students, coordinate programming, and work to build a community on campus that helps ensure students have the best possible college experience.

The new members became interested in OPSEU/NUPGE as a result of the campaign to organize non-union workers across the community college system.

“I want to congratulate our newest members on choosing OPSEU/NUPGE,” said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “Our goal is to represent all front-line workers in the college community, and we are well on our way.”
