MGEU requesting a return to the bargaining table as soon as possible.

Winnipeg (24 Jan. 2011) - A tentative contract affecting more than 14,000 Manitoba public employees has been rejected in a province-wide vote conducted Jan. 17-20.

The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE), in announcing the outcome of the vote, said it would contact the employer as soon as possible to request a return to the bargaining table.

"We will continue to post updates on the MGEU website, as information becomes available," the union said.

The proposed four-year settlement was reached just prior to Christmas.
