24 Hours of Climate Reality

24 Hours of Climate Reality is a worldwide event to broadcast the reality of the climate crisis. It includes 24 presenters in 24 time zones in 13 languages with 1 message.

Ottawa (14 September 2011) - Starting tonight at 7 pm the 24 hour event that will showcase a new multimedia presentation will be delivered in 13 languages and across every time zone around the globe.

The purpose of 24 Hours of Climate Reality, as the event has been dubbed, is to help people to connect the dots between recent extreme weather events — including floods, droughts and storms — and the man made pollution that is changing our climate.

The Climate Reality Project Canada with the support and endorsement of the David Suzuki Foundation will feature a presentation from Montreal born and raised, Peter Schiefke in Victoria, BC - in the 3rd hour of the 24 hours. He will discuss the challenges that the Canadian west coast is facing as climate change impacts become a reality.

All across Canada weather extremes were experienced this year including floods, forest fires, extreme heat and potent storms. These signals are moving Canadians to demand more action from all levels of government.

National Union union activists were among the original 200 people trained by Al Gore to deliver the "Inconvenient Truth" slide presentation. After the training, talks were delivered to tens of thousands of Canadians in communities across the country.

This weekend presenters will be retrained to deliver the new presentation focusing on impacts and solutions.
