Civil service special wage adjustments finalized

Special wage adjustments have been determined for MGEU/NUPGE members employed in the civil service.

Winnipeg (02 Feb. 2012) - The special wage adjustment process has concluded for members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) employed in the civil service.

Presentations were made by members on behalf of approximately 70 classifications late last spring. Over the past several weeks, the parties worked through presentations and additional workforce data before final decisions were made by the employer.

Decisions were based on specific criteria related to recruitment and retention patterns and other internal pay issues. Click here to view the list of classifications receiving an adjustment and those that are not.

Due to the wage adjustments, many salary schedules will be changing in the revised civil service collective agreement. As a result, the scheduled reprint of the agreement will be further delayed until the government is able to forward all of the revised salary schedules for the third and fourth year of the contract. The employer has indicated to union that this could take upwards of ten weeks to do.

Every member who will be receiving a special wage adjustment will be sent a letter in the mail to notify them of the increase.
