HSAA begins ratification of agreement with AHS and Covenant Health Services

HSAA/NUPGE members employed by AHS/Covenant Health start voting on tentative agreement.

Edmonton (16 April 2012) - On March 22, the Health Sciences ASsociation of Alberta reached a tentative agreement with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health. The bargaining committee has recommended approval of the new contract.

The ratification process kicks off with virtual town hall meetings on April 17 at 6 p.m., April 18 at 11:30 a.m. and April 19 at 7:30 p.m. HSAA/NUPGE members will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion about the proposed agreement during these sessions.

The town hall meeting will explain the tentative agreement and provide an opportunity for members to ask questions over the phone, rather than requiring in-person attendance at a specific location. Members will be telephoned at the number held on file at the start of the meeting. You can choose to pick up and participate or if you've already been involved, simply hang up.

Voting will take place through a combination of electronic and mail-in balloting. Ballots were mailed out on April 12 to those members who have not provided email addresses to the union. Members with an email address will be able to vote electronically starting in the next few days. Members who mail-in their ballot must ensure it arrives at the Edmonton office by the end of the business day April 26, 2012. The ballots will be counted and the results announced on April 30, 2012.

Members who do not receive an email or paper ballot should contact the HSAA Edmonton office.
