June 15:National Day of Action against cuts to refugee health care

Canadian Doctors for Refugee Care is hosting rallies across the country tell Canadians the consequences of the federal government’s cuts to refugee health care.

Ottawa (12 June 2015) — Despite widespread opposition from a broad range of health care workers across Canada — and a federal court decision calling the cuts "cruel and unusual" — the federal government continues to try and deny health care services to refugees.

Documented cases of care being denied

As predicted, many have suffered and continue to suffer as a result. There have been well documented cases of people being denied care including pregnant women and sick children.

Health care workers are joining others in continuing to speak out for those who do not have the opportunity to do so.

Fourth National Day of Action

Canadian Doctors for Refugee Care urges the public on June 15 to participate in their community (for a list of cities click here) in an activity for the fourth National Day of Action.

It is an opportunity to show the federal government that Canadians will stand up for the most vulnerable among us.
