MGEU government community workers to vote on new agreement

Bargaining commitee is recommending acceptance of new contract.

Winnipeg (17 Jan. 2013) — On January 3, after approximately 36 bargaining sessions, members of the Government Community Workers Component reached a tentative four year agreement with the employer.

The agreement includes improvements to wages, job security and mileage rates, and the bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the agreement.

The committee will be scheduling meetings with the membership across the province to share detailed information about the proposed deal and to answer any questions. Information packages are being mailed to every member in the next few days with details about the agreement and these ratification meetings.

Ballots for voting on this offer will only be distributed at these meetings, so members are strongly encouraged to attend in order to vote.
