'I know the members are most pleased that students will not have their studies interrupted.' - Peter Olfert.
Winnipeg (4 Aug. 2010) - Members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees Union (MGEU/NUPGE), employed at Red River College and Assiniboine Community College, have voted to accept a tentative settlement reached earlier.
“We are pleased that a strike could be averted in this situation and that a majority of employees were satisfied enough with the offer put forward that they voted to accept,” says MGEU president Peter Olfert.
“I know the members are most pleased that students will not have their studies interrupted.”
The MGEU represents approximately 1,600 college employees at the two colleges.
