NAPE launches Home Care: Our Best Choice campaign

“We wanted to launch this campaign to highlight the positive impact that home care and youth care workers have on thousands of people across the province every single day.” — Jerry Earle, NAPE President

St. John's (07 Nov. 2018) — The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) officially launched its Home Care: Our Best Choice advertising campaign today. The ads, which began to air earlier this week, will run province-wide on a variety of platforms.

NAPE/NUPGE represents over 4,000 home care and youth care workers across the province.

As home care needs increase, NAPE/NUPGE shows who's behind the care in the community

“Home care gives those who need support the ability to stay in their own homes  in their own communities. It allows people to get better, grow, and to be independent, and that’s good for their physical and mental health,” said Jerry Earle, NAPE President. “Home care gives loved ones peace of mind. And it reduces stress and strain on our health care system — while saving money.”

“Despite the crucial role that home and youth care workers play in our province, many people do not fully understand the multitude of roles and services that these workers provide,” said Earle. “We wanted to launch this campaign to highlight the positive impact that home care and youth care workers have on thousands of people across the province every single day.”

NAPE/NUPGE is heading to the bargaining table with home care agencies across the province later in November.

Workers need to be treated with dignity and respect

“In many cases, home care is the best choice for families, for loved ones, for our seniors, for those with special needs, for troubled youth, for our health care system, and for our province’s bottom line,” said Earle. “The provincial government is relying more heavily on home care and youth care to address a host of needs in communities across our province — which makes sense. However, we must ensure that the people who are providing these services are treated with the dignity and respect that goes with playing such a vital role in our province’s health care and community support systems.”
