NAPE launches second phase of We Are Community campaign

“Whether you know it or not, on any given day, a NAPE/NUPGE member can touch your life. From education and healthcare to transportation, public protection and beyond, thousands of public sector members go to work to be there for our most vulnerable, to care for our sick, to keep us safe, and to keep our economy moving.” — Jerry Earle, NAPE President

St. John's (14 Nov. 2017) — The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) launched the second phase of its We Are Community advertising campaign today. The ads will run province-wide on an array of platforms.
The ad campaign shows that NAPE/NUPGE is more than a union

“Many people in this province know what NAPE/NUPGE is, but don’t fully understand who makes up the union and the full scope of the vital work our members do. During these difficult times in the province, we wanted to shine a light on the hard-working and dedicated members of NAPE who deliver high quality and vital public services to the people of this province,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle. “We also wanted to show that NAPE/NUPGE is more than a union — we are part of the community. We are your friends, your family, and your neighbours. We have a vested interest in making this province better — for everyone.”

The ‘NAPE — We Are Community’ campaign is a long-term campaign focused on the real people behind the jobs, behind the services, and behind the statistics. The campaign showcases real NAPE/NUPGE members in their workplaces.

Next phase of campaign highlights how NAPE/NUPGE's work benefits more people than just union members

“The first phase of this campaign, launched in 2016, focused on our members and the roles they play in providing the public services the people of the province rely on every day,” said Earle. “This next phase of the campaign focuses the spotlight on a day in the life of regular people in the province and the many ways in which their lives are affected by NAPE/NUPGE members throughout that day.”

“Whether you know it or not, on any given day, a NAPE/NUPGE member can touch your life,” said Earle. “From education and healthcare to transportation, public protection and beyond, thousands of public sector members go to work to be there for our most vulnerable, to care for our sick, to keep us safe, and to keep our economy moving.”

Public services and the people who provide them create strong communities for everyone

“Public services are a shared resource we all depend on. They are the embodiment of what it means to be a society — coming together to provide programs and services for the betterment of all, to lift everyone up,” continued Earle. “Simply put, despite what the employers’ groups say, public services and the people who provide them are more than just a cost on a ledger sheet or a statistic on a piece of paper.”

The first ad in this new series can be seen on NAPE’s Facebook page or via Youtube.

Additional ads will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
