NAPE supports workers facing plant closure

NAPE supports FFAW/CAW members who lost jobs due to plant closure.

St. John's (12 Jan. 2012) - On Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) stood shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with Fish, Food and Allied Workers (FFAW/CAW) at a rally outside of the Ocean Choice International (OCI) offices in Paradise, Newfoundland . The rally was in support of employees of OCI in Port Union and Marystown who lost their jobs when the company announced last month that their plants would close permanently.

NAPE President Carol Furlong gave a passionate speech in support of FFAW/CAW in their cause saying, "My friends, NAPE members live and work in the same communities as you. We understand that your fight for the survival of rural communities is also our fight.... you have NAPE's full support."
