Negotiations in P.E.I. are moving to conciliation

Shelley Ward, president of the P.E.I. Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE)Charlottetown (4 June 2010) - Public sector negotiations involving key groups of employees in Prince Edward Island have reached an impasse requiring third party intervention.

The P.E.I. Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) says civil service employees and those who work at the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) and the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) are affected.

"Negotiations ... are moving to conciliation," says union president Shelley Ward. "Negotiating teams have worked hard to reach an agreement since talks began in March. However, a number of outstanding issues require third party intervention.”

Dates for conciliation have been scheduled for June 24-25.
