NUPGE Convention 2019 has begun

The day begins with a blessing from Elder Velma Orvis and an acknowledgment of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Morning schedule for Friday, June 21

Convention kicks off on Friday, June 21, at 9:00 am with the Call to Order in Hall C (City View Room) located on the 3rd floor of the RBC Convention Centre.

The day begins with a blessing from Elder Velma Orvis and an acknowledgment of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

There will also be a performance of “O Canada” and “Solidarity Forever” sung by the École River Heights School choir, a tribute to our deceased Sisters and Brothers, and the President’s Address.

New presentation formats

This year, the National Executive Board Report will be delivered in 2 ways: the traditional written report and a summarized video report. The video will be played at Convention and all members have access to the full written report online and through the Convention app.

The guest speaker for Friday is Kevin Rebeck, President of the Manitoba Federation of Labour, who will be speaking on the Winnipeg General Strike.

The last item of the morning before the lunch break is a debate on NUPGE’s Retirement Security Policy Paper.
