Prince Edward Island public sector union meets Nov. 17-18

First convention since election of new president

 

Charlottetown (19 Oct. 2006) - The annual convention of the Prince Edward Island Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) will be held Nov. 17-18 at the Delta Prince Hotel in Charlottetown.

The gathering marks the beginning of 30-day period of official transition to new leadership within the union, with Shelley Ward taking over as president from Sandy MacKay.

Ward was elected by union members in September.

Delegates from across the province will meet Friday night to begin work on reports and resolutions and to hear a guest speaker. The agenda for second day of the convention on Saturday includes continued debate on policy issues and consideration of budget and financial statements. NUPGE
