Summit will explore options to sale of NB Power

Coalition fighting proposed $3.2 billion sale will bring together an array of experts at Options Summit Feb. 22 in Fredericton. - Updated

Fredericton (18 Feb. 2010) - The group fighting the sale of NB Power (ENBP) to Hydro Quebec (HQ) is bringing together a group of experts for an Options Summit on Feb. 22 in Fredericton to explore alternatives to the planned $3.2 billion deal.

The Coalition of New Brunswickers - NB Power Not for Sale says New Brunswickers have shown a lot of interest in options other than selling the utility and are anxious to look at alternate solutions to provide for the province's energy future.

"Good questions need good answers," the group says in announcing the summit. "The coalition has gathered an array of experts in their field to bring together the knowledge, experience and expertise into one room at the same time."

The summit is open to the public and a news conference will be held in conjunction with it. The full schedule of participants and presentations is available here or at the link below.

The New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (NBUPPE/NUPGE) is one of the main groups involved in the coalition fighting the sale.
