Led by Adrienne Smith, a transgender human rights activist and drug-policy lawyer, the day-long workshop will explore the union’s role in ending discrimination against transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folx.
As a community, and especially as a labour union, we need to be aware of the discriminatory behaviour and bullying around us. We need to be the ones who stand up. We need to be the ones who support others who are suffering — physically, emotionally and economically.
This bill is the seventh bill on this issue since 2005. All other bills put forward by the opposition or as private members' bills have met incredible resistance and failure in the Senate. Bill C-16 is the first government-sponsored bill.
