Warren (Smokey) Thomas said there was a big problem when senior managers lie to the minister.
OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas said that Corrections Miniser Naqvi seemed "shocked to see the deplorable conditions inmates were living in — and correctional officers were working under. Clearly, something had to be done, and done quickly.”
Only one Ontario Liberal MPP has toured a correctional facility to witness the ongoing crisis. OPSEU President says, "I always say, if you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear.”

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) is calling for the province to install metal detectors and institute better security measures for theprovince's probation and parole officers.
The agreement to allow full searches of the institution is a step forward but underlying problems of over-crowding, low staffing, inadequate training and lack of security equipment remain.
