Toronto (29 April 2015) — Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) employed by WHL Management Limited have been on strike for over 18 months and they need your help to reach a fair contract.
"Bill 8 is a slap in the face to agriculture workers in Quebec. It gives employers permission to just listen and then ignore whatever concerns workers raise," says UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema.
“The U.S. Supreme Court decision is disturbing to both U.S. and Canadian workers. It gives further fodder to those anti-union corporate extremists and right-wing politicians on both sides of the border to continue their ongoing assault on labour rights and the ability of unions to effectively represent working people.”
As NUPGE President James Clancy puts it in his foreword, “unions promote fairness in the workplace and the economy, they strengthen democracy and they participate in broader social movements for social justice.”
