Workload a major issue for administrative workers

By and large, workloads are unmanageable. It's time things changed. That's why the administrative members of the BCGEU/NUPGE created the Breakaway campaign.

Breakaway has a variety of components and you'll be hearing more about them throughout 2015:

  • Awareness raising and Breakaway campaign launch during Administrative Services Week, April 20 - 24, 2015.

Members will be asking their co-workers to take a pledge to Breakaway about unmanageable workloads. Certificates of Completion will be awarded and special 'thank yous' will be given out to those who take the pledge. (Download the Certificate of Completion)

  • Member-to-member (M2M) outreach

BCGEU/NUPGE members will be visiting workplaces in the coming weeks and months to talk about Breakaway and other campaigns that are being undertaken to try to help make workload more manageable.

  • Breakaway fact sheets

The union will be distributing four fact sheets to promote awareness about workplace rights when it comes to workload. The fact sheets are called, Managing Your WorkloadOverworked? You Have RightsOverwork and Stress Put Your Health at Risk and Unpaid Overtime

  • Breakaway photo contest.

Members are being encouraged to submit photos of themselves and co-workers holding their Breakaway pledge forms. The photos will be entered in a contest to win a $50 gift certificate or the grand prize of an IPad Mini. The photos will be used in an Administrative Services Calendar BCGEU/NUPGE be issuing for 2016.
