Tentative agreement reached for NSGEU members at NSCAD

NSGEU members at NSCAD vote on tentative agreement on October 3.

Halifax (03 Oct. 2013) - Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) exchanged bargaining proposals with employer representatives at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) on September 9th, 2013. Negotiations continued throughout the month, with a tentative agreement being reached on September 26.

Bargaining committee recommends acceptance of tentative collective agreement

Information meetings and voting by secret ballot will occur on Thursday, October 3 at the Port Campus from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. and at the Granville Campus from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.
The union will confirm the rooms shortly.

Improvements made in bargaining

Some of the improvements to the tentative three-year agreement include:

  • university sector wage increases
  • changes in layoff and recall procedures
  • severance pay and standby pay and
  • a commitment to reviewing the current job evaluation plan.
