Al Mullin scholarship awarded to Sydney Murray

“Sydney is a very deserving recipient, and we wish her continued success as she moves forward in her academic career." — Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President

Fredericton (05 June 2022) — The second scholarship honouring the late Al Mullin — the former Vice-President of the New Brunswick Union (NBU/NUPGE) — was recently awarded to Sydney Murray.

Scholarship established in honour of deceased NBU/NUPGE member Al Mullin

Al’s family — his wife, Leanne and children, Morgan and Kyle — established the Aloysius Mullin Scholarship with the criteria the recipient must be the child of a member of the NBU in good standing. The scholarship was also for a student from the area where Al grew up and attended school.

Murray graduated from North and South Esk Regional High School in Sunny Corner, NB and is set to attend St. Francis Xavier University in the fall. She is the daughter of NBU/NUPGE member Peter Murray.

The NBU/NUPGE has also established a scholarship in Al’s memory that will awarded for the first time this fall.

“Leanne and her children did a wonderful thing in establishing the scholarship in Al’s name,” said Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President. “Al valued education and spent so much time helping train NBU/NUPGE members."

“Sydney is a very deserving recipient, and we wish her continued success as she moves forward in her academic career," said Proulx-Daigle.
