Bargaining begins for 7700 government workers in Nova Scotia

Bargaining continues throughout the month of October for NSGEU/NUPGE employed by the Nova Scotia government.

logo for the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees' Union (NSGEU/NUPGE)Halifax (03 Oct. 2012) - Civil Service bargaining for the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees' Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) began on October 2 with the exchange of proposals.

The last Civil Service master collective agreement expired March 31, 2012.

There are approximately 7700 members of the civil service who provide valuable public services in communities across Nova Scotia. Members of the civil service work in natural resources, transportation, food and inspection services, social services, community services, the courts, Access Nova Scotia offices, highway safety, occupational health & safety, and much more.

Further negotiating sessions are planned for October 2, 15, 16, 17, 25, 26 and 31, 2012.
