Health workers demand WTO: put health over profits

Don't let trade rules stop universal vaccine access. Support the temporary TRIPS waiver proposal.

Ottawa (04 May 2020) Public Services International (PSI), Amnesty International (AI) and People’s Health Movement (PHM) are calling on health care workers all over the world to join the action to call on states at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to support the temporary TRIPS waiver proposal.

Share the vaccine: support TRIPS waiver

To put a real face on the issue, a global photo collage of health care workers from the 164 WTO member states is being created to showcase their support for the TRIPS waiver proposal. The photo collage will be promoted on social media channels and complemented with the message:

“We, frontline health workers from around the world, demand governments put people’s health before Big Pharma's profits. Don't let trade rules stop universal vaccine access. Share the vaccine. Support the #TRIPSWaiver, #PeoplesVaccine for all Now!”

What you can do: take a photo and tweet on May 5

Take a photo of yourself holding a sign with occupation, country/location, and the 2 hashtags #TRIPSWaiver, #PeoplesVaccine, and send it to PSI at  psiasiapacificoffice@gmail.com by the evening of May 4.

Tweet your photo on May 5, along with the suggested social media messages here (or compose your own!) targeting the governments of countries that are blocking or delaying the proposal.

Follow and tag @PSIglobalunion, @amnesty and @PHMglobal and retweet when the action begins on May 5.
