To register for this workshop, HSABC/NUPGE members can visit http://events.hsabc.org/.

Vancouver (26 Oct. 2017) — Health Sciences Association of B.C. (HSABC/NUPGE) is offering a workshop for its members who are required to implement the CSA Standard on Psychosocially Healthy and Safe Workplaces, or for members whose workplaces have become a risk to the mental health of the workers.

HSABC/NUPGE readies workers to identify mental health distress, and provide resources to help

HSABC/NUPGE's workshop will take place on January 31, 2018, starting at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, with the workshop beginning at 9 a.m. at the HSABC training room. The day will be split into 2 sessions:

8:30 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Psychological Health and Safety
Many workplaces where HSABC/NUPGE members work are required to implement the CSA Standard on Psychosocially Healthy and Safe Workplaces.  Others will do so willingly, or because their workplaces have become risks to the mental health of the workers.  Participants will become familiar with the Standard and will learn how HSABC/NUPGE members will participate in implementation.

1:00 p.m .to 5:00 p.m.
safeTALK
safeTALK is a half-day workshop teaching participants to be alert to the signs of suicide and to connect people with the help they need.  Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with situations that seem overwhelming, and they cannot see an end to the pain. Their actions and words may be asking for help.  At the end of this workshop, participants will be familiar with the signs and know how to connect people with resources to help.

There is a 25 per class participant maximum, so it is advised to sign up early to save a spot!  Lunch will be provided.
