MGEU 2013 Spaghetti Lunch raises $6,000 for United Way

All of the money raised by this event stays in the community to fund various programs and services offered by organizations in Portage and the surrounding communities.

Winnipeg (12 Nov. 2013) - Members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) filled the Portage la Prairie Royal Canadian Legion Hall – and their stomachs – on November 6 for the annual United Way Spaghetti Luncheon.

MGEU/NUPGE members raise money for United Way community projects

This was the biggest Portage Spaghetti Luncheon to date with 608 lunches served and approximately $6,000 raised for the United Way. Union staff and members once again volunteered to prepare and serve the food.

The MGEU/NUPGE would like to thank everyone involved for making this year’s Spaghetti Lunch a complete success.

All of the money raised by this event stays in the community to fund various programs and services offered by organizations in Portage and the surrounding communities.

As we know governments no longer provide adequate funding for all the public services and programs needed in the community. Public donations to the United Way help bridge the gap.
