MGEU holds information picket at WRHA Health Sciences Centre on September 22

The WRHA needs to invest more in HSC Security in order to maintain the service and keep people safe.

logo for MGEUWinnipeg (16 Sept. 2015) — Every day at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Health Sciences Centre (HSC) security workers help maintain a safe and secure environment for visitors and employees. It’s a demanding, sometimes dangerous, job. That’s why some officers are leaving for safer work — and finding qualified, experienced people to take their place has been a challenge.

More investment needed by WRHA to recruit and retain experienced workers in a safe environment

To raise awareness about the significant problems faced by the members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) who work in HSC security, MGEU/NUPGE members will hold an information picket will be held on September 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The WRHA needs to invest more in HSC Security in order to maintain the service and keep people safe.

All MGEU/NUPGE members are invited to attend the information picket and show their support. For those who can’t make it, organizers are asking for their help by sharing this story on social media and by asking friends, family, or anyone else, to attend in support.
