"If 1,000 of our members did this, it would equal $25,000 to NBAFB." — Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President
Fredericton (11 April 2018) — A little more than one year ago, the New Brunswick Union (NBU/NUPGE) board of directors chose the New Brunswick Association of Food Banks (NBAFB) as its charity of choice.

This meant, for the next 3 years, the union will contribute $12,000 per year to the NBAFB to help with its work throughout the province. The NBAFB is a non-profit, charitable organization whose membership is comprised of food banks and soup kitchens throughout the province of New Brunswick. There are a total of 59 agency members throughout the province that comprise the association.
Now, the NBU/NUPGE is asking its members to further support the NBAFB through the Loblaw card program.

According to its website — www.loblawcard.ca — Loblaw discovered that Canadians were overcharged for the cost of some packaged bread products in its stores and other grocery stores across Canada. In response, Loblaw is offering eligible customers a $25 Loblaw card, which can be used to purchase items sold in its grocery stores across the country.
The eligibility and registration forms are on the website. Registration forms must be submitted by May 8 in order to be eligible.
The NBU/NUPGE is asking members, if they choose, to register for a card and donate it to a local food bank.
"We feel this is a great way for our members to support their local food banks and to make a difference in their communities," said Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President. "If 1,000 of our members did this, it would equal $25,000 to NBAFB."
Donate directly or drop off at NBU office
Members can either directly donate their card to a food bank, or send them to the NBU office in Fredericton where the cards will be collected and presented to the NBAFB.
"This is a great opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of our fellow New Brunswickers," said Proulx-Daigle.
