OSHAH plans health & safety learning portal in B.C.

'The portal itself has many potential users, including personnel involved in developing OHS education and training, JOHS committees, and front-line workers.'

Victoria (24 March 2009) - A new online repository for occupational health and safety (OSH) education and training resources for health care is being developed in British Columbia.

The province's Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare (OHSAH) plans to open a new "learning portal" for provincial "health care stakeholders" by 2010.

"Two of the primary goals of the learning portal are to reduce duplication and increase collaborative development of new OHS education and training resources," the agency says.

"The portal itself has many potential users, including personnel involved in developing OHS education and training, JOHS committees, and front-line workers."

OHSAH expects it to take three years to assemble and upload existing resources and make them available. Violence prevention materials will be added in the first year.

OHSAH is a provincial agency dedicated to the health care sector. It is jointly governed by employers and unions.
