Ratification vote July 13-14 for Ont. liquor workers

Straight up or down vote - 'Yes, I approve the tentative settlement' or 'No, I reject the tentative settlement.'

Toronto (3 July 2009) - Employees of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) will vote across the province July 13-14 on a new contract negotiated by their Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) bargaining committee.

The union says the contract is a good one. It is unanimously recommending acceptance.

“This tentative agreement is very, very strong with gains for every member and no takeaways,” says bargaining team chair Vanda Klumper. “Our team has no hesitation in asking members for an enthusiastic Yes vote to approve this contract.”

Klumper says the more than 6,000 members of OPSEU's Liquor Board Employees Division (LBED) will vote on a simple question when they cast ballots, choosing between these two straightforward options:

  • Yes, I approve the tentative settlement.
  • No, I reject the tentative settlement.

Full details are available on the OPSEU web site.
