Tentative NSGEU settlement with Annapolis board

Ratification vote on pay increases and other negotiated contract improvements scheduled for Dec. 11. - Updated.

Halifax (29 Nov. 2010) - The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) has negotiated a new tentative agreement on behalf of workers it represents with the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.

The contract was ratified in December by members. Full details have been posted by NSGEU.

The proposed settlement which includes increases of 2.9% retroactive to April 1, 2009 and 1% retroactive to April 1, 2010, plus a further 1% raise on April 1, 2011, will be put to a ratification vote on Dec. 11.

Other improvements include an increase from 50% to 65% in the employer paid cost share of the employees' benefit plan, vacation pay of 8% after 20 years of service and a new classification of the Student Support Worker 1 job description with a new rate of pay.
