Below is a statement from Public Services International’s (PSI) Executive Board on the declaration of martial law by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and the swift and decisive action of the South Korean people and trade unions. On behalf of our 425,000 members, NUPGE endorses PSI’s statement and stands in solidarity with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, Korean Federation of Public Services and Transportation Workers’ Unions, Korean Metal Workers’ Union, and all the other trade unions and citizens who are taking a stand to protect their democracy.
