Earth Day 2025

Happy Earth Day

April 22 2025

Earth Day has been celebrated as a day to raise awareness about environmental protection since 1970. We commemorate Earth Day on April 22.

This year, Earth Day falls during the federal election campaign.

“Climate change is an election issue,” said Bert Blundon, President of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE). “We need all political parties to be talking about how they will take real action on the climate crisis, not relying on simple slogans or avoiding the issue altogether.”

Supporting a Just Transition away from our reliance on fossil fuels, investing in public services that help us adapt to climate change, and addressing the unequal impacts of climate change will be key to tackling the climate crisis as well as the affordability crisis.
