Our Future is Young and Diverse: SGEU human rights conference

Our Future is Young and Diverse conference hosted by the SGEU/NUPGE Human Rights Equity Committee was held from September 24-26.

logo for the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union (SGEU/NUPGE)Regina (28 Sept. 2012) - The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union's (SGEU/NUPGE) Human Rights Equity Committee (HREC) wrapped up their 9th biennial conference on September 26. The theme for the three-day celebration was Our Future is Young and Diverse and featured a variety of guest speakers from the community, including 30-year-old Cadmus Delorme, a teaching assistant at the First Nations University of Canada.

Delegates enjoyed presentations regarding issues and obstacles faced by young workers, an overview of Anti-Discrimination Response Training (A.R.T), as well as union leadership development workshops. The HREC also held elections for the respresentatives to the SGEU/NUPGE standing committees.
