Parliament to vote on ceasefire motion

Tell your MP: Vote for a ceasefire in text behind a photo of Parliament Hill

March 13 2024

On March 18, Members of Parliament will have the chance to vote for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Tell your MP to support the NDP’s Opposition Day motion, which calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, an arms embargo, the full restoration of UNRWA funding and humanitarian aid, and more.

The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), with other allies in labour and civil society, has been calling for a ceasefire since October 12, 2023, following an escalation of violence between the State of Israel and Hamas. Subsequently, we have been urging the Canadian government to act to ensure justice and peace for Israelis and Palestinians.

A clear majority of the Canadian public already supports the call for a ceasefire. Hundreds of thousands have signed petitions and joined peaceful demonstrations across the country.

It’s long overdue that Parliament reflects public opinion on this urgent humanitarian issue. Let your MP know: How they vote on March 18 will affect how you vote in 2025. Send your message now, and spread the word: https://ceasefirenow.ca/email-your-mp.
