Earlier this month, NUPGE organized a webinar called “COP26: What does it mean for workers?” The webinar gave an overview of what is COP, why it matters, and what it means for workers — in Canada and globally.

Ottawa (03 Nov. 2021) — With the UN climate summit known as COP26 (Conference of the Parties) underway in Glasgow, Scotland, all eyes will be on governments to deliver on their promises to tackle the climate crisis.  It is more urgent than ever that leaders come away with more ambitious plans that will not just get us to a decarbonized future, but will also address structural inequities and injustices in the process.

As COP26 gets underway, NUPGE is sharing some resources for members.

Climate justice now

NUPGE will be represented among the official delegates at COP26. Along with allies in the Canadian labour and climate movements, NUPGE will be calling for bold and urgent climate action that contributes to a more just and equitable world. This includes a Just Transition for workers and their communities, respect for human rights and labour rights, and investment in public services.
